Did your comment make the Top 100? Deer & Deer Hunting fans have come up with quite the list! Remember, this is all in good fun! Although some of the omitted comments were spiteful, the vast majority are ones you’ve probably heard before … and maybe even use regularly!

It all started when I decided to create a little Family Feud style meme earlier this week and post it to the Deer & Deer Hunting social media pages. I was expecting some engagement, but not by the thousands! You all really showed up, spoke your minds, and revealed some that we have never heard before!

So without further ado, here’s the list (in no particular order):

1. “I Smoked Him!”

Referring to shot placement.

2. “Cull Buck”

Justification of a buck that you shot.

3. “Didn’t Go 20”

Reference to how far a deer ran before collapsing.

4. “If it’s Brown, it’s Down!”

Reference to hunters who will shoot any legal deer.

5. “I Stuck a Doe”

Bowhunting reference.

6. “He Needs Another Year”

In reference to a buck a hunter deems as too small.

7. “Put the Smack Down”

Shot reference.

8. “Management Buck”

See “cull buck” above.

9. “Dirt Nap”

Shot and killed a deer.

10. “Dark Thirty”

Reference to when the nighttime sky is pitch black.

11. “That’s Why They Call it Huntin’ “

Excuse for fruitless days afield.

12. “Swamp Donkey”

In reference to a mature doe.

13. “He’s a Shooter”

Justification for shooting a buck.

14. “Freezer Queen”

A meat doe.

15. “My Biggest Buck to Date”

Justification for shooting a buck.

16. “Let Him Go, Let Him Grow”

Self-explanatory.

17. “Shoot Straight!”

Self-explanatory.

18 “He’s Not the Biggest But…”

Justification for shooting a buck.

19. “Big Ol’ Nanny”

Justification for shooting a doe.

20. “My Target Buck”

Self-explanatory.

21. “Doe” (as a plural)

In reference to hunters who say “I saw five doe” instead of does.

A hunter who is either happy to be merely hunting or happy with the deer they shot.

Justification for shooting a buck.

30. “Catch Anything?”

Instead of saying “see”

31. “Jumped the String”

Excuse for missing a shot while bowhunting.

32. “Can’t Shoot ‘em From the Couch”

Self-explanatory.

33. “Toad”

Another term for “big”

34. “Tag Soup”

Excuse for going home empty-handed.

35. “Slickhead”

Another term for antlerless deer

36. “Got it Done”

Self-explanatory.

37. “Old Warrior”

Self-explanatory.

38. “Let Him Walk”

Self-explanatory.

39. “What Does He Score?”

Self-explanatory.

40. “Let the Air Out of One”

After shooting a deer through the lungs.

41. “Great Mass”

Reference to the mass measurements of a buck’s antlers.

42. “How Old is He?”

Self-explanatory.

43. “Meat for the Freezer”

Self-explanatory.

44. “Booner”

Reference to a buck that gross-scores 170 inches.

45. “Rage in the Cage”

Broadhead through a deer’s chest when bowhunting.

46. “Absolute Stud”

Self-explanatory.

47. “Boiler Room”

A deer’s vital area.

48. “Joker”

In reference to a buck.

49. “That Deer is Going for a Ride in My Truck”

Self-explanatory.

50. Naming Deer (“Skyscraper” “Bullwinkle” etc)

Self-explanatory. Made famous by TV hunters.

51. “Harvested”

Instead of killed.

52. “Gonna Be a Giant”

Self-explanatory.

53. “That’s a Dandy”

Self-explanatory.

54. “If it Strolls, It Rolls”

Self-explanatory.

55. “My PB” (personal best)

Biggest deer a hunter has taken.

56. “Whack ‘em and Stack ‘em!”

Ah, c’mon … how can we pick on Uncle Ted? 😉

57. “Ground Shrinkage”

When a hunter realizes a deer he’s shot is smaller than he thought.

58. “Punched My Tag”

Self-explanatory.

59. “Pretty 2 Year Old”

Backhanded compliment about a branch-antlered buck.

60. “Monster Doe”

Aren’t they all monsters?

61. “Pump Station”

A deer’s vital area.

62. “Pinwheeled ‘em”

Self-explanatory.

63. “Nub Buck”

A young-of-the-year male whitetail.

64. “I’ve Shot Bigger Ones”

Self-deprecating comment when assessing a deer that’s killed.

65. “All Done Dancing” (ADD)

Self-explanatory.

66. “That’s What I’m Talkin’ ‘Bout!”

No, ain’t talkin’ ’bout love. Talkin’ ’bout a the moment a hunter shoots a deer.

67. “Toadzilla”

Reference to a big buck.

68. “Center Mass”

Aiming for the middle of a deer when shooting.

69. “Broke the Ice”

Got the first deer of the season.

70. “Thwack!”

Sound an arrow makes on impact.

71. “Pole-Axed Him”

Self-explanatory.

72. “Take No Prisoners”

73. “Gave Him a Blood Bath”

Crude account of a successful shot.

74. “You’re Not a REAL Hunter if (you shoot this or that)”

Hunters hating on other hunters.

75. “Crossgun”

Referring to a crossbow.

76. “You Shot Bambi”

Put down of someone shoots a legal young-of-the-year deer.

77. “Save Some for Seed”

Jealous comment usually made by someone who didn’t get a deer.

78. “The Neighbor Shot My Buck”

Possessive attitude toward free-ranging deer.

79. “Where Did You Kill Him?”

Asking specific details to someone who was successful, especially on public land.

80. “Once a Spike Always a Spike”

Excuse for killing a spike buck.

81. “Must Be Nice”

Jealous comment over success, access, or equipment.

82. “You Had an Itchy Trigger Finger”

Backhanded comment directed toward someone who shot a deer.

83. “Gimme a Minute”

Made famous by TV hunters in the 1990s.

84. “Hit Him a Little Far Back”

Referring to arrow/bullet placement through the paunch.

85. “Drilled Him”

Similar to “smoked,” in regards to an arrow/bullet impact.

86. “Ground check”

Implying that a hunter would shoot a buck and then see how big it is after it’s dead.

87. “I’m a Meat Hunter”

A hunter who doesn’t care about the size of a buck’s rack.

88. #Blessed

Tagging a social media post with gratitude.

89. “He … Is … DOWN!”

Reference to video hunters watching a deer in play-by-play fashion.

90. “That’s GOOD Blood”

Over-exaggerating when blood-trailing a deer.

91. “Wall Hanger”

Self-explanatory.

92. “Maahp!”

Recreating a doe bleat sound with your voice to stop a walking deer.

93. “On the Board, Bay-bee!”

Indicating a dead deer is “on the scoreboard,” while adding an endearing term at the end.

94. “Coyotes Gotta Eat”

Justifying an unrecovered deer, like the coyote population would starve.
